Someone once told me, “If you lose a piece of jewelry – it’s meant for someone else.”
Thank goodness the same doesn’t apply to wallets.
I recently lost mine. It fell out my pocket while leaving the supermarket. I immediately retraced my steps, but it was nowhere to be found.
I didn’t cancel my credit card (I only carry one), or spend hours at the DMV for license replacement (I live in Los Angeles where there’s traffic and lots of people).
My phone ringer is always on silent as this is my way to manage distractions.
I switched my ringer from “silent” to “on” and waited…
and waited…
and waited…
I carried on with life as usual and I resisted all worry.
After 48 hours I began to wonder if my faith had run its course.
I thought, “What’s taking THEM so long? THEY’VE got my number because my business card is in the wallet. Besides, I returned two wallets last year.
Does that count? Is anyone keeping score?”
Finally a postal worker rang me. She had my wallet. We met the following morning as I was on my way to LAX to fly out. I was seriously confident.
Everything was in tact except for $40 bucks in cash.
Do what you can to worry less and allow faith to save the day.
Life doesn’t always work out exactly as we want, but remaining faith-filled and optimistic will sometimes allow the pieces of life to come together.
“Faith is to believe what you do not yet see; the reward for this faith is to see what you believe.” ~ Saint Augustine
